CARE AND MAINTENANCE

The Piano Works suggests the following care for the refinished piano.

1. Never, never use spray polishes of any kind! They contain chemicals that damage the finish. Instead, use Guardsman, Murphy's Oil products or simply plain water on a well-wrung out soft towel (old diapers work well). Wipe with the grain of the rub or the grain of the wood wherever possible.

2. Please do not set anything on the finish for several months after delivery. Never set anything vinyl on the piano, since the lacquer is essentially vinyl, it will meld together. The solvents in the finish need to evaporate away, or breathe. (Of course you may set your music on while playing, but please put the music in the bench when you're done.)

3. The finish may look hazy when first new, but with time (usually within the first year) it will take on a lustrous patina.
